Terms of Service
What the product is, what it isn't, and the rules of using it.
Last updated: 2026-04-25.
The short version. ClinicaLingo is clinical-Spanish language practice for working US healthcare staff. It is not a medical interpreter and is not safe to use in place of one when a clinical decision depends on accurate communication. The free tier is free forever; the Pro tier (when it opens) is $19/month, cancel from your billing dashboard, full refund within 7 days of the first charge. Don't redistribute the scenario library or PDFs commercially. We can suspend an account that abuses the platform.
1. Who you're agreeing with
These Terms are an agreement between you and the operator of ClinicaLingo, a solo project published from @bitinvestigator on a single VPS. References to "we," "us," and "our" mean the operator. References to "you" mean you, the person using the site. By using clinicalingo.com — including the practice page, downloading either PDF, or putting an email in the waitlist — you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy.
2. What ClinicaLingo is
ClinicaLingo is a language-practice product. Each scenario is a scripted dialogue between a clinician and a Spanish-speaking patient, with a tap-to-translate transcript, dialect notes, and a clinical debrief. The free tier currently offers 26 scenarios on the /practice/ page and two free PDFs (a 50-phrase reference and the full 26-scenario library). The Pro tier — when it opens — will add a voiced AI roleplay loop, a Whisper-based pronunciation check, spaced-repetition review of phrases you missed, and a small progress dashboard.
3. What ClinicaLingo is NOT — read this section
ClinicaLingo is not a medical interpreter. It is not certified by the National Board for Certification of Medical Interpreters (CCHI / NBCMI). It does not replace your facility's qualified Spanish-speaking interpreter, video-remote interpreter, or telephone language line. When a clinical decision — a diagnosis, a consent, a medication-allergy disclosure, a discharge instruction your patient must understand to be safe at home — depends on accurate communication, you must use a qualified interpreter. That requirement does not change because you have practiced a scenario here.
ClinicaLingo is not medical advice and the scenarios are not clinical protocols. The scripts are written to teach Spanish phrasing in the shape of common encounters; they are not authoritative on the underlying clinical care, dosing, or decision points. Always practice within your scope and within your facility's policies.
ClinicaLingo is not a HIPAA-compliant product. The platform is not built to receive, store, or transmit Protected Health Information. Do not type patient names, medical record numbers, dates of birth, or any encounter details into any field on the site, including the waitlist email box or the contact email.
4. Eligibility
You must be 13 or older to use the site at all, and 18 or older (or the age of legal majority where you live, whichever is greater) to subscribe to Pro when it opens. If you are using ClinicaLingo as part of a clinical-education program, your school's terms apply alongside these.
5. Free tier
The free scenarios, the 50-phrase PDF, and the full-library PDF are free to use for personal study and clinical practice, including in your role as a working US healthcare worker, an EMS or fire-service responder, a clinical student, or a faculty member. You may show a phrase or a single scenario to a colleague to discuss it. You may not republish the scenarios, the PDFs, or the AI roleplay outputs as your own product, and you may not resell access to them.
6. Pro tier (when it opens)
6.1 Pricing
Pro is $19 USD per month or $149 USD per year (a 35% saving over monthly). Prices are in United States dollars and exclude any sales tax that applies in your state or country — Stripe will collect and remit the applicable tax at checkout. We may change the price for new sign-ups at any time; we will not raise the price on an existing subscription without 30 days' email notice and an option to cancel.
6.2 Billing and payments
All payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number on our server. By subscribing you agree to Stripe's terms in addition to these Terms. Monthly subscriptions renew automatically each month on the anniversary of the first charge until you cancel. Annual subscriptions renew once per year on the anniversary of the first charge.
6.3 Cancellation
You can cancel a subscription at any time from your billing dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Pro access through the end of that period. We do not require an email to cancel and we do not run a retention-funnel with extra cancel screens.
6.4 Refunds
If you cancel within seven days of the first charge on a new subscription, we will refund the charge in full — the cancel button handles this automatically; no email required. After seven days, monthly subscriptions are not refundable for the current month (we will simply stop renewing at your cancel date). Annual subscriptions can be prorated and refunded on request within the first 30 days; email hello@clinicalingo.com from the subscribing email address. After 30 days, annual subscriptions are not refundable for the current year (you keep Pro through the end of the period).
6.5 Service availability
Pro is delivered as a hosted web app. We aim for high availability but do not promise 100% uptime. If there is an unplanned outage that lasts longer than 24 consecutive hours, we will credit a full month of Pro to every active subscriber's next billing cycle.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape the site at a rate that would degrade it for other users (one or two requests per second is fine; thousands per minute is not);
- resell, sublicense, or redistribute the scenario content, the PDFs, the AI roleplay outputs, or the audio assets — to colleagues or for any commercial purpose;
- train a competing AI model or language product on the scenario content or the PDF content;
- upload, paste, or transmit any patient-identifying information, PHI, or any content that violates HIPAA or your facility's privacy policy;
- use the site in a way that interferes with someone else's use, including by submitting a flood of waitlist emails, spam, or honeypot-trip submissions;
- misrepresent ClinicaLingo as a medical-interpreter service, a clinical decision support tool, or a HIPAA-compliant platform — to a patient, to a colleague, or to your employer's purchasing department.
We can suspend an account, remove an email from the waitlist, or block an IP that violates the above. We will tell you why if it is safe to do so.
8. Intellectual property
The scenarios, the dialect notes, the clinical debriefs, the audio assets, the PDFs, the site code, the brand, the logo, and the underlying scenario JSON are the operator's intellectual property, with the parts of the site that are open-sourced (none today) marked as such. You get a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use them for personal study and clinical practice in your own work; you do not get a license to redistribute them. The Spanish phrases themselves, like any natural language, are not copyrightable; what is copyrightable is the curation, the scoring, the dialect-note selection, and the surrounding clinical-debrief writing.
9. Feedback
If you email us a suggestion, a correction to a phrase, or a request for a new scenario, we may use that feedback to improve the product without owing you anything in return. Conversely, we will never claim ownership of clinical content or dialect knowledge that is plainly yours.
10. Third-party links
The site links out to a small number of third-party pages — for example our public X/Twitter handle and Stripe at checkout. We are not responsible for the content, terms, or privacy practices of those third parties. Their terms apply to your use of their sites.
11. Disclaimers
The site, the scenarios, the PDFs, the AI roleplay outputs, and the pronunciation scoring are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by US law. We do not warrant that the phrasing is correct in every regional dialect, that the scenarios cover every clinical situation, that AI-generated pronunciation feedback is accurate, or that the site will be available at any particular moment. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by US law, the operator's aggregate liability under or in connection with these Terms — for any claim, in contract, tort, or otherwise — is limited to the greater of (a) the total amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or (b) USD 50. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, clinical-licensure consequences, employer disciplinary outcomes, or goodwill, even if we were advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case the limit is the smallest one their law allows.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold the operator harmless from any third-party claim arising out of your misuse of the site, your violation of these Terms, your violation of HIPAA or your facility's policies on the platform, or your use of ClinicaLingo as a substitute for a qualified medical interpreter when a clinical decision required one.
14. Termination
You can stop using the site at any time. We can terminate or suspend your access if you violate Section 7 (Acceptable use) or Section 8 (Intellectual property), or if a payment dispute arises that we cannot resolve. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — IP, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, governing law — do survive.
15. Changes
If we change these Terms in a material way, we will update the date at the top of this page, post a one-line note in the public CHANGELOG at @bitinvestigator, and, if you are an active Pro subscriber or on the waitlist, email you before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the site after the change means you accept the new Terms.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by writing to hello@clinicalingo.com will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and the operator each consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. If you are a US-based government, healthcare system, or military user whose policy requires a different forum, contact us before subscribing and we will discuss in good faith.
17. Severability and entire agreement
If any part of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest remain in effect. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and the operator about ClinicaLingo and supersede any prior version.
